History
Celebration Youth Conference has been held at Lycoming Christian Church every year since 1989. Dynamic keynote speakers and worship leaders are brought in each year with the goal of leading youth in grades 6-12 to Christ or leading them in a closer relationship with Him. Youth from Christian churches throughout central Pennsylvania come to this twenty-four-hour event.
During the time they are at Celebration, they are involved in worship sessions, challenges from keynote speakers, workshops led by Christian youth leaders and ministers, and fellowship time meeting and building relationships with peers from other churches. Youth and sponsors who travel an hour or more have the opportunity to stay in the church members’ homes if they would like to have this opportunity.
Many sponsors and youth have continued ongoing relationships with their hosts over multiple years, requesting to return to their homes at future Celebrations.
Purpose
We want to encourage youth in grades six through twelve to come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. For those who have made a commitment to Christ, they are encouraged to use their time at Celebration develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and hearing His word through the scriptures in the workshops taught by Christian leaders. Our hope is that these youth will make a commitment to serve Christ by being active in their home churches.
We want youth to discover their gifts and talents as they discover their purpose here on earth by providing them with tools they need to live out their faith in schools, community and beyond. We want the youth to have fun and develop relationships that will last a lifetime! We offer the youth leaders opportunities to meet with other youth leaders and have a three-hour session with the keynote speaker in order to gain insight on how to teach and support their youth.
It has often been said by one of our church members that the sponsors benefit as much as the “kiddos!”
